Rules of the Classrooms and Dissection Halls

Anatomy Practicals

  1. Before entering the practical rooms: Change your shoes and clothes. Put on your lab clothing (scrub or whitecoat) and an indoors lab shoes (slippers or shoe covers). Store your outwear clothing and shoes in the closet, not in the hallway. You can use the locker rooms on the 1st floor of the CA (C118, C127) or the central locker room in building B. You can borrow the chip or key at the gatehouse, you need an ISIC card to borrow. 
  2. For practical lessons in anatomy, each student is required to have a white coat, a name badge, indoors lab shoes (slippers or shoe covers), anatomical forceps and utensils. Gloves are not mandatory, but are highly recommended. While working with anatomical specimens, it is forbidden to drink, eat, smoke, also photo and video recording of specimens is forbidden.
  3. Any injury or signs of a disorder should be announced to a teacher immediately.

Histology Practicals

  1. Change your shoes and put off your outwear before you enter both the microscopy hall and study-room. The white coats are not necessary. Please deposit your shoes and outwear in the wardrobe cabinets, not in the corridor. You can borrow the chip or key at the gatehouse, you need an ISIC card to borrow. 
  2. Eating, drinking and smoking is prohibited in the microscopic hall and the study-room of the department.
  3. A student is authorized to switch on or off the student microscope lamp. Any other manipulation with any electrical equipment is prohibited.
  4. A student is not allowed to enter the departmental laboratories without a teacher..
  5. Any injury or signs of a disorder should be announced to a teacher immediately.
  6. Damage to a microscopical slide should be announced to a department's worker immediately; splinters should be secured.
  7. Any failure of any department's equipment should be announced to a department's worker immediately.
  8. By fire or any other mass jeopardy, leave the department according to directives of a department's worker.

Operation

1. The dissection halls are designated for educational and scientific purposes only.
2. Specimens and cadavers come from human donors and should be treated with uttermost respect.
3. Students have to follow the principles of medical ethics, do not talk about dissection with non-medical people, do not take photographs or videos inside the dissection halls and do not take away any educational specimens from the dissection halls.
4. Dissection hall is a restricted zone and entry is allowed only to the staff of the department and students of master's and bachelor's studies of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. It is not allowed to stay in the dissection halls without the supervision of the department staff, lecturers or persons designated by them.
5. Before entering the dissection halls, students are obliged to change their clothes in the locker room, to wear a white coat/gown, to take care of the cleanliness of the gowns and not to walk outside the anatomy dissection tract in these gowns.
6. Personal items (backpacks, clothes, etc.) must be stored in the locker room. Only gloves, dissection tools, textbooks and stationery may be brought to the dissection halls.
7. Bracelets and rings must be stored in the locker room before entering the dissection halls (it is recommended not to come with them to the premises of the department at all). Long hair should be tied up so that it does not fall into the specimens. Long and varnished nails are not recommended.
8. Students are always required to wear a visibly placed badge card with their first and family name and a group number.
9. It is forbidden to eat, drink, chew or smoke in the dissection halls, also photo and video recording of specimens is forbidden.
10. It is highly recommended to wear gloves when dissecting or manipulating with specimens.
11. Dissection tables are marked with numbers. Each table will be in charge of one designated group of students. Each injury is reported to the designated responsible teaching staff. After the preliminary treatment, the student is sent to Motol University Hospital for final treatment and possible revaccination against tetanus. This event is always recorded.
12. In case of forgetting belongings in the classroom or in the dissection halls, the students address their teacher or contact the dissection halls technicians to see if it has been put aside in the lost and found box. This is located on the 1st floor to the left of the entrance to the dissection hall (C117, see the ground floor map of the Department of Anatomy).
13. Students are prohibited from entering the technical rooms (specimen storage room and preparation room) unless instructed to do so.
14. It is prohibited for students to open and use the entrance for employees leading through the technical rooms of the dissection halls (side door entrance). The entrance to the building is possible only through the main entrance of the building of the theoretical institutes of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
15. Access to dissection halls must always be closed and it is prohibited to secure the door against closing.
17. The area in front of the dissection halls (staircase and corridor) are monitored by a camera system.
18. Pregnant women are not allowed to stay in the dissection halls. Any interruption of studies and inclusion in the ISP is further resolved with the Study department.

 

Cleaning

1. Everyone is obliged to maintain cleanliness and order.
2. Dissection waste, gloves and replaceable scalpel blades shall be sorted and discarded only in individual specifically marked containers.
3. Cleaning takes place continuously during classes and then always after the end of the dissection day. Students clean their workplace and put biological material in marked containers, then cover the bodies with a wet sheet (or rags) and plastic wrap.
4. Before each departure from the dissection halls, students clean the dissection instruments and wash their hands inside the dissection halls.
5. For individual dissection tables, there are containers for biological material, which are marked with the body registration number and the U (urn body) or R (scattering body) mark. It is expressly forbidden to move or swap containers between tables. If the container is full, you will receive a new one on request.
6. At the end of the dissection day when leaving the dissection halls, the teaching staff ensures that the blinds are lowered, leaves the hall and locks the dissection hall.
