General Information & Organization

The Department of Anatomy offers doctoral research positions in Biomedicine to medical doctors as well as science graduates. The research focus is clinically oriented morphology at both the theoretical and experimental levels. The used methodologies comprise cadaveric observations, basic microscopy, imaging modalities with focus on ultrasound, radiographic retrospective patient cases, and animal models experimentations.

Our PhD students are expected to be medical academics, clinical physicians, natural scientists or physiotherapists. Participation in the teaching activity is encouraged as well.

The research concerns several fields: Anatomy, Neurosciences, Experimental Surgery, Imaging Methods in Medicine and Kinesiology and Rehabilitation.

Neurosciences - led by prof. Rastislava Drugy

Calretinin immunoreactivity in the prefrontal cortical region of the rat brain

Distribution of calretinin-positive interneurons in the dorsal and ventral striatum of rats

Changes in structure and in inhibitory system of hippocampus and parahippocampal areas in young animals experienced status epilepticus

A suitable candidate is a future (or recent) graduate of a medical faculty or a natural science faculty who would like to pursue anatomy, histology, physiology, neurology, psychiatry or neurosurgery and is interested in doctoral studies in the field Neurosciences. As part of the study, he / she could participate in undergraduate teaching of anatomy or histology.

Experimental Surgery and Imaging Methods in Medicine - led by prof. David Kachlík

Those interested can discuss the topic directly with the supervisor.
